What attracted me to the profession of Massage Therapy was the element of caring for people in a safe and relaxing environment. I've always been a compassionate and caring person toward all living things. Prior to becoming a Massage Therapist I considered counseling or psychotherapy. I knew whatever I did I wanted to be able to help and care for people's health and well being. As a child I'd rub my parents feet after they came home from work. They always remarked about my natural strength, even then. Before deciding to become a Massage Therapist I was waiting tables and going to college for art and literature. As a painter and writer since I was young, it has always been natural for me to work with my hands. At work one evening my fellow server's shoulders and back were really hurting so I offered to try to massage them for her.

She was really relieved and impressed by my amateur massage. It was then that the light bulb went off and I wondered why I hadn't thought of doing Massage Therapy before. I realized I could fulfill my desire to help people, use my hands, and be creative all at the same time. Friends and family told me I had a natural healing touch and it made sense to check out Massage Therapy schools. When I walked into my school, the Central Florida School of Massage Therapy, I knew instantly it was the school for me. The school had a warm and inviting energy, an incredible reputation for the best Massage Therapy education in Florida, and it was owned and operated by Michael McGillicuddy, a Sports Massage specialist who was the president of the FSMTA (Florida State Massage Therapy Association) at the time. The program I was taught was well rounded and interesting. It included the following subjects:

150 hours of Anatomy and Physiology, Pathology
